Where we work

Colorado. Based on South Quebec Street in Englewood, working the front range daily and the rest of the state where the project is worth mobilising for. What distance changes is set out below, because it changes more than the drive.

Englewood, Colorado · Colorado since 2002

Colorado is a bad state to describe with a radius. A hundred miles north on the front range is an hour and a half of interstate; a hundred miles west is a mountain pass that closes, and a crew that cannot get home.

So the honest answer is not a circle on a map. It is this: we work the Denver metro and the front range corridor routinely, from Pueblo to Fort Collins, as normal daily work. Beyond that — Grand Junction, the Western Slope, mountain districts — we work where the project is large enough or long enough to justify mobilising crews and equipment properly, with per diem and local logistics priced in rather than absorbed.

The distinction matters to you because a contractor who mobilises badly is a contractor whose crews are tired, whose equipment is the wrong equipment because bringing the right one was inconvenient, and whose schedule has no slack in it. A four-hour drive each way does not appear on a bid tab, and it appears in the work.

For a mountain district, the other thing distance changes is the construction season. A water-retaining concrete placement has a temperature range in the specification, and at nine thousand feet the window that satisfies it is shorter than most schedules assume. That is a sequencing conversation to have in January, not in September.

If we are the wrong contractor for the distance, we will say so

A small project a long way away is frequently better done by a local contractor who knows the jurisdiction, the inspectors and where the aggregate comes from. Telephone and describe it; if that is the answer, that is the answer we will give you.

F 2.0 What distance changes

Three bands, and what each one changes

This is the conversation most contractors have privately and price silently. It is more useful to you in the open.

Distance from Englewood · what it changes about a project
Band Crew logistics What it changes about the bid Minimum project that justifies it
Denver metro and inner front rangeEnglewood, Littleton, Aurora, Arvada, Denver Daily, crews home each night Nothing. This is normal work Any
Front range corridorBoulder, Longmont, Fort Collins, Greeley, Colorado Springs, Pueblo Daily where the drive allows, otherwise staged Mobilisation priced for the corridor; longer days accounted for honestly Small
Western Slope and mountain districtsGrand Junction, mountain communities Crews housed locally, per diem, equipment staged on site Mobilisation, per diem, local logistics, and a shorter construction season Substantial

“Substantial” is deliberately not a number, because it depends on duration more than on value: a long project justifies mobilisation that a large short one does not. Telephone and describe the project and we will tell you plainly whether it is one we should be bidding.

F 3.0 Who the work is for

Districts, cities and the engineers who serve them

Almost all of this work is public. Municipalities, water and sanitation districts, metropolitan districts, and the consulting engineers who design for them. Which means the procurement is public, the documents are public, the wage rules frequently apply, and the bonding and insurance requirements are real.

It also means the audience for a bid is not one person. It is an engineer who cares whether the sequence works, a public works director who cares whether the plant stays in compliance, a finance officer who cares whether the number holds, and a board who will read a one-page summary. A bid that answers only one of those four is a bid that gets questioned.

We also work as a civil subcontractor to general contractors on projects where a building scope dominates. On those, the utility and site work is our scope and we are content for somebody else to hold the contract — that is frequently the right structure.

What a public owner can ask for

Bonding and surety
Bid, performance and payment bonds through our surety, with a letter on request.
Insurance
Certificates naming your project and your entity, to the limits the documents require.
Prequalification
Completed on your own form, with the references and project history it asks for.
Federal registration
SAM.gov registration details for federally assisted work, including SRF-funded projects.
Certified payroll
Submitted with each pay application on prevailing-wage work, as a matter of course.

None of these are published on this site, deliberately. A number on a marketing page is not evidence; a certificate sent to a named person who can check it is. See the disclaimer.

Tell us where, and what

The town, the facility, and what has to happen to it. We will tell you whether we are the right contractor for the distance, what the season does to the sequence, and what a realistic order of magnitude looks like.
